Southern Chile and Argentina offer the majestic Andes Mountains with cobalt lakes, emerald forests and clear, dark skies. Charles Darwin once described Southern Chile as “boundless”.
After the eclipse on land continue south for a four nights cruise through the majestic fjords aboard one of the Australis company’s expedition vessels. The complimentary excursions afford the opportunity to see thousands of penguins, birds and wildlife. Distinguished speakers will highlight the eclipse and night sky. No background in science is expected.

Itinerary
Thursday/Friday December 10/11, 2020
We will depart USA for our overnight flight to Santiago. Upon arrival we will be met and transferred to the Hotel Plaza San Francisco for a brief rest before an afternoon city tour; followed by a dinner at the local Mercado Central.
Saturday, December 12, 2020
In the morning we will transfer to the airport for the flight to Valdivia, before continuing on to Huilo Huilo, a private Bio Reserve.
Sunday, December 13, 2020
Many activities are available, including Rafting, Kayaking, one of the longest ziplines in the world, viewing the park, visiting the Mapuche Community, and horseback riding.
Monday, December 14, 2020 ECLIPSE DAY
After breakfast, we’ll drive to the site for our eclipse watch. Later in the afternoon, we’ll head to the hot springs for a soak and barbeque, before we return to our hotel.

We start our trip along the Panamericana to Frutillar; visiting the German Settlement Open Air Museum, and strolling along the Llanquihue Lake Promenade. In the evening, enjoy a night at the Llanquihue Lake, with a view of Osorno Volcano.
Wednesday, December 16, 2020
On our drive to Puerto Montt, we’ll stop at a sheep farm on the way from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales and lunch there; followed by a transfer to the airport for the flight to Punta Arenas. Upon our arrival, we will be transferred to our hotel in Puerto Natales .
Thursday, December 17, 2020
Today we will enjoy a full-day excursion to the National Park Torres Del Payne, where we can visit the big waterfalls; as well as see Lake Grey and Milodon Cave.
Friday, December 18, 2020
After Breakfast, we’ll drive to Punta Arenas, where we can visit the Nao Victoria Ship exhibition and the Cemetery Sara Braun. Then it’s lunch at local restaurant and a transfer to the harbor before check-in at Cruceros Australis for your first onboard dinner!

Majestic Glacier avenue includes many navigable paths such as the narrow Gabrial Channel, Magdalena Channel and Cockburn Channel.

As we continue along the Beagle Channel of Glacier Alley, we see monumental geography, featuring tidewater glaciers flowing down from the Darwin Mountains.

Today we visit the famous (and infamous!) Cape Horn; and in the afternoon Wulaya Bay.

After breakfast we’ll enjoy and enjoy penultimate day; wander at your leisure, or there is an optional Dinner and Tango show at the Piazzola theater available if you’re interested!
